Mission Planning

 

As we all remember, you can’t accomplish a mission or patrol without knowing your target coordinates.

 

Should you desire to participate in this mission (attend the reunion), please consult the enclosed map & grid references

 

The reunion is held at El Dorado State Park, just north-east of El Dorado Kansas.  Main routes leading to the park include:

 

US 400/US 54. (e/w)

US 77. (n/s) (access to west side of the park)

Ks 177(n/s) (access to east side of the park)

Kansas Turnpike (toll road) (use exit 76)

 

Approximate GPS coordinates are: Latitude 37.45N – Longitude 96.46W

MISSION LOGISTICS:

 

A large part of mission planning goes into the logistical end of the operation, so, we are including the following information for you benefit in planning your mission.

 

Expenses: The Reunion depends on donations and registrations to survive.  We do ask that you drop by the “Registration Tent” and sign up for our newsletters, Registration is only $3.00 for the veterans, the parent(s) of a deceased veteran, or their widows, only, and admission for the rest of the family is free.  This only serves to defray the newsletter expenses.  We respect your privacy, and as such, we will never release your information to any person or parties without your express permission.

 

In past years, there has not been an admission fee collected; however, due to increased costs, and fees, The Reunion will be selling a collectable button to any and all guests who are not registered with the Reunion.  Buttons will be $3.00 per person, and will be available prior to the event, in various locations in Wichita & El Dorado.  The buttons will make the wearer eligible for special Door Prize drawings throughout the weekend.

 

Display of the button will be required to enter the Reunion Site (“Veterans Point” Area). Veterans and their immediate families who register this year, will be given buttons as part of their registration packet.  This is why we diligently urged everyone to register last year.  Veterans who registered last year, and their immediate family (spouse & children only) will be exempt from paying for their buttons.

 

The El Dorado State Park does charge a “user fee” for vehicle access to the park. 

For 2007, this is $4.20 per day.  There is an additional charge for camping on-site, this is $8.50 per day.

 

Other campsites, which feature full RV hookups, are available in other areas of the park, at additional charge per utility.  See Park Fees for more details and a complete list of all fees.

 

The Reunion receives no monies from the State Park from this event.

(In fact, we have to pay a substantial permit fee to hold the Reunion there.)
